After losing the Singleton Gauntlet twice in a row with the typical Bilgewater-P&Z deck centered around playing and drawing tones of cards each turn to be able to play
Purrsuit of Perfection as soon as possible, I decided to do a complete U-turn for my next attempt with a control-based SI-P&Z deck centered around surviving until I was able to play it. That U-turn actually served me to win the Gauntlet at my 1rst attempt (5 victories, 1 defeat, 2 victories).
This deck plays quite similar to Riot's
Death's Door expedition archetype: win the game by sustaining yourself and burning enemy resources until they run out of them.
Evolving any of the champions is obviously useful but not really needed to win: they are all just different tools to keep board advantage by either clearing enemy board (
Ezreal,
Thresh and
Vi), forcing enemy to waste blockers (
Kalista and
Hecarim) or generating "free" units (
Heimerdinger). Out of the 6 champion cards in the deck,
Hecarim is the most replaceable one and could be indeed replaced by
Elise depending on your preferences and playstyle, but I wouldn't recommend at all to take
Ezreal out of the deck.
As always: Suggestions may not always be followed, but will always be listened to.
(Funny fact: in the whole 8 games I played with this deck, I never managed to play
Subpurrsible or
Purrsuit of Perfection.)
